The SAF will be delivered from San Francisco International Airport, over a period of seven years beginning in 2025. Middle East Carriers To Order Nearly 3,000 Jets By 2040

US aircraft manufacturer Boeing has predicted that airlines in the Middle East will more than double the size of their fleets to roughly 3,000 commercial jets over the next 20 years. More than two-thirds of these jets will be new deliveries, while the remaining will replace the older models. This massive expansion is likely to require an investment of US$ 765bn. The new planes will be required to accommodate an exponential increase in passenger traffic. The fleet forecast comes as Boeing also expects a 4% growth in passenger traffic annually.

Frontier Airlines In Talks With SpaceX Over Starlink Inflight Wi-Fi

Frontier Airlines recently held discussions with SpaceX about the carrier’s potential interest in installing the Starlink satellite internet service on its aircraft. The low-cost carrier does not currently provide its passengers with internet connection onboard. Inflight Wi-Fi implies different costs for the airline including the weight of the product hardware, which will negatively impact fuel consumption, and qualified workforce required to install such hardware. Consequently, Frontier has announced that Starlink would need to be lightweight, compact, and cheap if the airline were to purchase it for its fleet.

500 Flights Canceled In Italy Amid Walkouts

Hundreds of flights were canceled on Sunday as a result of four-hour walkouts by Italian air traffic controllers and employees of low-cost carriers. According to the Italian transport ministry, the strikes were called by employees of Ryanair, easyJet, and Volotea, who are demanding better salaries and working conditions. The air traffic controllers’ walkout, which lasted four hours, commenced an hour before that strike. As a result of the overlap between the two strikes, about 500 flights were canceled.

Yes there still is an airside sauna @HelsinkiAirport , hidden in the @Finnair Platinum Wing lounge in the Non-Schengen area. Nothing like the lavish sauna complex cum pool they had here a decade ago, but still nice if you have access and time #PaxEx

> Quote of the Day

“Cathay Pacific continues to reaffirm its commitment to addressing climate change despite these challenging times. In the past few years, we have announced our carbon net-zero by 2050 target and our goal of achieving 10% use of SAF by 2030. In doing this, we have built a robust SAF procurement strategy to help meet our goals. We are pleased that this agreement with Aemetis will contribute to that effort, and we hope it will also send the right signal to the SAF industry to encourage the much-needed investment and scaling up of its supply chain.”
