Canadians to Need Vaccine Proof for Air, Rail Travel

From October 30, Canada will require all air travelers and passengers on interprovincial trains  – except those under 12 or with a valid medical condition – to provide proof they’ve been vaccinated against COVID-19. A transition period will allow travelers to show a negative test result received within 72 hours of travel until November 30. Employers in the federally regulated air, rail and marine transportation sectors must establish vaccine mandates by the end of the month. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said the country’s digital vaccine passport will be ready in the coming weeks.

Eutelsat Ups Stake in OneWeb to 22.9%

Eutelsat plans to invest a further $165 million in OneWeb as part of the latter’s latest funding round. When the transaction closes, Eutelsat will own nearly 23% of OneWeb, becoming the second largest stakeholder after Bharti Global, which has a 30% share of the company. “The significant progress it has made in the run-up to its entry into service, together with the vote of confidence demonstrated by the commitment of both investors and future customers, makes us even more convinced of OneWeb’s right-to-win in the LEO constellation segment,” said Eutelsat’s CEO, Rodolph Belmer.
