Air 4 All to Allow Powered Wheelchairs in the Cabin

PriestmanGoode, Flying Disabled and SWS Certification have unveiled Air 4 All, a patented design enabling powered wheelchairs users to remain in their own wheelchair in-flight. It requires the installation of an attachment system, similar to ISOFIX/LATCH standards in cars, that is compatible with multiple wheelchair and aircraft seating types. If no wheelchairs require access, the seats can function as normal. The design is for a narrow-body jet in a 2-2 configuration and would involve converting the front row to accommodate two wheelchairs per flight.

Elenium, Micro-X to Test Self-Service Security Screening Portal

Elenium Automation has been chosen by the US government’s Department of Homeland Security to design and test a self-screening security portal that makes use of a miniature X-ray baggage scanner developed by Micro-X. The scanner can detect hidden threats within passengers’ carry-on luggage and will be used together with a voice-controlled booth that operates in a similar way to an automated passport control gate. In the future, Elenium’s HealthGate technology, which detects potential symptoms of infectious illness, could be integrated with Micro-X’s security screening solution.
