Is Airline Digitization Taking Place with Accessibility in Mind?

An October 2020 study by McKinsey found that “responses to COVID-19 have speeded the adoption of digital technologies by several years,” as demonstrated by the airline industry, which rapidly introduced digital, touchless processes. Consultant Jennifer Coutts Clay is concerned about the accessibility of this new technology. For those who may not be able to enter information into a check-in kiosk in the required language, to senior citizens that may not understand how to use the technology required, Coutts Clay argues that “customer service agents will always need to be available to make sure there’s support there.”
