Tata Group Likely To Announce Airline Mergers

Tata Group may be preparing to announce some big changes to its airline holdings. According to a new report, Vistara, AirAsia India, and Air India Express could all be merged under the Air India brand, creating one full-service and one budget carrier in the process. According to the Economic Times, Singapore Airlines and Tata have already come to an agreement, clearing the way for Vistara to be accommodated into the flag carrier. The merged Air India would be India’s second-largest airline, with a fleet size of 217 aircraft.

Korean Air Updates Cabin Design For A321neo

Korean Air has revealed an updated cabin design for its Airbus A321neo fleet. The airline recently took delivery of the first of its thirty aircraft order. While past Korean narrowbody aircraft have featured interiors geared towards short-haul flying with cradle recliner seats in the Prestige (business) Class, the airline has revealed a more long-haul focused interior in its upcoming Airbus A321neo, complete with a brand new design style. Commercial service for Korean Air’s A321neo on is expected to begin on December 1.

Changi Airport And Jewel Changi Airport Launch Avatar Installations

Changi Airport Group has launched a series of ‘Avatar’ installations at Jewel Changi Airport, and the T3 Departure Hall of Changi Airport in Singapore. The installations have been inspired by the movie ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’. The Avatar installations include a large replica of the home of the Na’vi, an Avatar-themed Light & Sound show and digital screens displaying marine life at Canopy Park. The airports will host the movie themed activities from November 11, 2022, to January 2, 2023.

Air Canada Business Class To Feature Amenity Kits By Acqua Di Parma

This month onwards, Air Canada Signature Class customers on all international flights will receive an elegant amenity kit from Acqua di Parma. Designed to be functional and reusable, the kits have elongated-shaped travel cases in Acqua di Parma’s signature yellow color, and contain luxury bath and body products including hand cream and lip balm, an oversized eye mask, socks, dental kit, glasses cloth and 3M earplugs. Guests in International Premium Economy and North America Signature Class overnight flights will also receive upgraded kits.

SAUDIA Opts For Lufthansa Systems’ SchedConnect Solution

Saudi Arabian Airlines has opted for Lufthansa Systems’ codeshare management and schedule distribution system, SchedConnect. SchedConnect delivers efficient and automated codeshare management by saving time in daily tasks and identifying ideal and potential codeshare connections. The solution enables airlines to realize savings, increase revenue and improve efficiency of internal processes by automating scheduled data exchange from and to partners and third parties. Carriers stand to profit from the central flight repository and central schedule database where schedules of all customers and codeshare partners are saved in real-time.

Virgin Australia Chooses Intelsat To Provide In-Flight Connectivity

Virgin Australia has selected Intelsat’s 2Ku satellite connectivity solution as part of an initiative to improve passenger experience. Intelsat will deliver streaming-quality, always-on, reliable inflight internet product onboard the airline’s fleet of Boeing 737 NG aircraft. The in-flight connectivity service will be installed on the 737 NG aircraft over the next 18 months. Intelsat’s solution will also be installed on the 737 MAX aircraft, which will be delivered to Virgin Australia in the future.

Qatar Airways Reopens Bangkok Premium Lounge

Qatar Airways has reopened its Premium Lounge at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International airport. The facility is located on level 3 of the airport’s Concourse D, and is open to Qatar Airways and oneworld passengers traveling in business and first class. The Premium Lounge originally opened in February 2018, but was temporarily closed during the Covid-19 pandemic. Features include an a la carte brasserie dining area and a second ‘Global Deli’ buffet option, as well as the Martini Bar, a business center and shower facilities.
