China Flight Searches Surge As COVID Measures Relax

Searches and bookings for flights to China sky-rocketed hours after the COVID measures were relaxed by the Chinese government. Quarantine time for international travelers to China has been shortened to 5+3 days: five days in a centralized quarantine location, followed by three days of home quarantine. Earlier, travelers were subject to a quarantine of 7+3 days. The number of reservations to China doubled on Chinese online travel giant Ctrip’s website, as the search for international flights increased by 200%.

CLEAR Deploys Screening Lanes At Luis Muñoz Airport

Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in Carolina, Puerto Rico, has been equipped with CLEAR’s expedited security screening lanes. The dedicated lanes are used for verifying customer identity with their eyes or fingers, replacing the need to show the wallet and driver’s license. A CLEAR Ambassador will accompany members through the lane and to US Transportation Security Administration physical security after the verification process. The new service reduces the amount of time spent waiting at the security checkpoint.

AERQ Presents New Use Cases For OLED Screens In The Cabin

AERQ’s open IT platform AERENA creates an ecosystem onboard that can quickly deploy airline and third-party apps, content, and user interface changes to screens. As flexible ultra high definition OLED screens are increasingly being integrated into galleys and other cabin monuments, AERENA will enable airlines to become the “playmaker” of their own cabins and create a unique experience for passengers in a cost efficient manner.

ICM Hub To Enhance Passenger-Airline Interaction With Conversational AI

New York-based startup ICM Hub is reshaping how passengers and airlines interact inflight. Through ICM’s Conversational AI solution, passengers can self-serve, guided with conversational AI, to get answers in-flight. Unlike all chatbot solutions that are cloud-based, Conversational AI hosts its Natural Language Processing algorithms locally on the aircraft. Passengers can use an app on their electronic devices or their seatback screen, and use natural language to make their request. The process, the startup claims, is as simple as sending a text message.
