New $2.7 Billion Terminal Opens At Newark Liberty Airport

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has unveiled the new $2.7 billion Terminal A at Newark Liberty International Airport. The new terminal will serve as a replacement for the outmoded Terminal A that launched in 1973. Equipped with digital technology, the new terminal will feature 33 gates of which 21 gates will open later this month, while the rest will become operational next year. The terminal has been designed to accommodate around 13.6 million passengers annually.

Frontier Airlines Debuts All-You-Can-Fly Pass For $599

Budget carrier Frontier Airlines has put its GoWild! Pass up for sale on its website for $599. The pass is valid for more than 300 days of travel. However, travelers cannot use the pass during holiday periods and several other blackout dates. Passengers might also have to be flexible as flight tickets won’t be available to book until the day before departure. The promotional cost covers the entire US and Puerto Rico, for a year. The booking and travel clock starts on May 2 and expires a year later.

VistaJet Unveils Exclusive In-Flight Dish By Nobu Matsuhisa

VistaJet has released details about a new inflight menu that features signature seasonal menus and Michelin-starred partners. The carrier has extended its longstanding partnership with Nobu and unveiled an exclusive dish by Chef Nobu Matsuhisa — Nobu Steamed Salmon Dry Miso. The dish will only be available to VistaJet clients, and will redefine the fine dining experience on board. VistaJet carefully curates the menu on every flight with each dish prepared for high-altitude dining to ensure a consistent and seamless fine dining experience.

Video Games Are Becoming Popular For Inflight Entertainment

Inflight video games were originally designed for educational purposes. In recent years, airlines have been focusing on expanding their entertainment-oriented repertoire of games, designed to be more mentally demanding. Airlines have also begun to facilitate the use of devices like Nintendo’s portable switch console by offering USB chargers. By encouraging and promoting inflight gaming, carriers aim to appeal to a new segment of passengers that are interested in new digital experiences.

New Virtual Restaurant At SEA Extends Airport Ghost Kitchen Trend

Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) has launched a new chicken-themed virtual restaurant, called Chicky. Celebrity chef Kathy Casey came up with the idea. Passengers can access the menu and place an order using QR codes located throughout the airport, via the Chicky To Go website, or through the flySEA airport app. The food will be prepared in the Lucky Louie Fish Shack kitchen and customers will be directed to a special Chicky Pick-up window at the venue.

Mako Aerospace Aims For 600 Km Electric Aircraft Range

Earlier this week, Scottish start-up and electric engine maker Mako Aerospace held an online demo day, to talk about its “Forerunner” propulsion system. Once in service, the propulsion system will have a 600 km range, far more than current electric aircraft engines. Currently, the Forerunner engine is being tested on a six wheel pickup truck, with a modular testbed for electric propulsion systems. Mako aims to move to experimental flight in around 18 months.

Crown Airlines Undertakes Cabin Refurbishments

Libyan startup carrier, Crown Airlines has partnered with aviation design and production company, J&C Aero, for cabin refurbishments, retrofitting the premium economy cabins and branding support for its first two Airbus A320s. The partnership covers the design and production of a variety of aircraft cabin interior elements like seat dress covers, carpets, seat belts and curtains. The contract also includes galley modifications according to the airline’s specifications. In addition, Crown Airlines has entrusted J&C Aero with the design, production and installation of the fleet’s branded livery.
