IAG Could Axe Heathrow Flights over Increased Passenger Charges

International Airlines Group (IAG), the biggest operator out of Heathrow Airport, has threatened to move flights away from the London hub due to its planned increase in passenger costs. This would see the removal of British Airways as well as Aer Lingus and Iberia flights. IAG’s chief executive, Luis Gallego, said that it “would not be alone” in taking its business elsewhere if costs per passenger rise by 56% from $29.50 to $46.25 by 2023. Airlines believe the decision, made by the UK Civil Aviation Authority, will lead to higher fares.
