Malaysia’s MYAirlines Receives Air Service Licence

Malaysia’s low-cost carrier MYAirline has received its Air Service Licence (ASL) from the Malaysian Aviation Commission. This clears the way for the airline to start selling tickets in anticipation of a December launch. MYAirline now has a full one-year ASL which sits alongside its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia. The final step is to apply for domestic air traffic rights, and, once approved, the airline can start flying within Malaysia.

Plaza Premium Group Opens Blush Lounge At Heathrow

Airport hospitality company Plaza Premium Group has opened the Blush Lounge at the London Heathrow Airport. The lounge is located at Terminal 4 of the airport and can accommodate up to 105 passengers. It features a spacious entrance lobby and seating with a view of the runway.  The lounge also offers a buffet with a wide selection of food and drinks, with Kosher meals available upon request. Blush Lounge is open to travelers from 3-7 pm daily, except Fridays.

Wizz Air Joins European Commission’s Alliance For Zero-Emission Aviation

Wizz Air has joined the Alliance for Zero-Emission Aviation (AZEA), a voluntary initiative launched by the European Commission to pave the way for next-generation sustainable aircraft. Wizz Air joins AZEA with several public and private aviation stakeholders, united by the shared mission to decarbonise the industry by facilitating the successful commercialization of hydrogen and electric aircraft. To achieve this, AZEA members will work together to identify barriers to advancing zero-emission aircraft, establish recommendations and promote investment projects.

Airbus HBCplus Could Accelerate Adoption Of Free Wi-Fi Model

Airbus’ new HBCplus program will accelerate airlines’ adoption of the free Wi-Fi model, according to Safran Passenger Innovations, which has been roped in to supply its agnostic IFC terminal for the program. HBCplus will enable participating airlines to switch bandwidth suppliers without changing the linefit IFC hardware on their aircraft. It will also improve the economics of inflight connectivity, and help operators avoid a costly rip-and-replace of IFC hardware should they seek a different MSP in the future.

Thompson Aero Seating Announces World-Class Dynamic Test Facility

Thompson Aero Seating has announced plans for the creation of a world-class Dynamic Test Facility (DTF) in Northern Ireland. The £7.5 million facility will give Thompson the capability to certify new products for airworthiness and to carry out research and development work, without even needing to leave the factory. Building works have already begun to extend the premises for the DTF at the Thompson brownfield site in Banbridge, and are projected to be completed in early 2023.

TSA Deploys Next Generation CAT Units At Denver Airport

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has installed next generation credential authentication technology (CAT) at Denver International Airport in Colorado to ease the passenger verification process. The new CAT units, also known as CAT-2, feature a camera to capture a real-time photo of a passenger, and scan the passenger’s photo identification to confirm their identity and flight details. After this, the passenger can move towards security screening without exchanging a boarding pass.

Flydubai’s Match Day Shuttle Service Starts From DWC

Flydubai has commenced its Match Day Shuttle service from Dubai World Central (DWC) to enable football fans to travel conveniently to Doha to take part in FIFA World Cup 2022. The airline has partnered with Qatar Airways and Dubai Airports to make these flights possible. Flydubai will host up to 30 such flights daily, and the flydubai team will be working diligently round the clock to support them.
