Porter Airlines Takes Delivery Of Two Embraer E195-E2s

Porter Airlines has taken delivery of two Embraer E195-E2s, and will be launching several new routes. The airline has orders with Embraer for up to 100 E195-E2 aircraft – 50 firm commitments and 50 purchase rights. Porter is the North American launch customer for the E2, enabling the airline to launch flights to Western Canada for the first time in its 16-year history. The carrier is also hoping to expand operations to several North American, Mexican, and Caribbean destinations.

India Plans To Deploy 3D CT Scanners Across Airports

The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) is set to mandate the installation of computer tomography (CT) based scanners at airports across the country. The CT scanners will offer a three-dimensional view of the objects in hand baggage, and will eliminate the need for passengers to take out electronic devices from their luggage. This is expected to expedite the security check-in process at airports. The technical details of the scanners that will be deployed have not yet been disclosed.

Oman Air And Omantel To Offer Seamless And Hassle-Free Connectivity

Oman Air has partnered with telecom operator Omantel to provide passengers flying to Oman with Tourist SIM Cards on board their flight. The one-year partnership aims to offer guests a hassle-free and efficient digital solution that enriches their travel experience, and saves them time and effort upon arrival. The two companies also have another partnership involving their respective loyalty programmes, enabling Omantel’s customers to convert their Makasib points to Sindbad Miles.

Austrian To Reconnect Vienna And Shanghai Twice A Week

Austrian Airlines has announced plans to operate two direct flights per week to Shanghai’s Pudong International, starting January 16, 2023. The flights will be operated by a B777 aircraft. The airline will operate the Vienna-Shanghai route on Mondays and Fridays, and the Shanghai-Vienna route on Mondays and Wednesdays. The increased frequency was initially planned for the summer but is being implemented earlier due to increasing demand from and to China.

Turkish Removes Aeroflot Livery From Its Airbus A350

Turkish Technic has repainted the first of Turkish Airlines' Airbus A350 wide-body airliners with the airline’s own branding. Registered as TC-LGL, the aircraft was originally built for Russian flag carrier Aeroflot. Before being repainted, the aircraft featured Aeroflot’s characteristic blue engine nacelles and winglets. The Russian flag on the aircraft’s tail has been temporarily covered with a blue finish, and the inscription “Turkish Airlines” has been applied to the fuselage.

Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd and Intelsat are expanding their strategic partnership with multimillion-dollar agreements to increase in-flight connectivity (IFC) in the Americas. Gilat’s solution is already proven worldwide as an operational system that allows aviation service providers like Intelsat to streamline IFC service fulfillment.
