Katie has been the APEX General Manager since 2009 leading the APEX staff in elevating all programs and services for our members.  She also is driving force of several committees’ initiatives including the Finance, Awards, and Nominations.

Prior to this, Katie worked as Associate Director for Healthcare Foodservice Association managing sponsorships and benchmarking program as well overseeing the association staff.  She was also the ETCP Certification Director responsible for creating and launching the new certification programs for riggers and electricians in the entertainment industry.

She has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in both Economics and Psychology.

Steve Harvey

Head of Audio, Global Eagle Entertainment

Steve Harvey was the founder of Inflight Productions back in 1979 which began life as an audio-only service to airlines. He was instrumental in negotiating the first collective agreements in the UK for the production of audio cassettes and CDs for airlines.

Inflight Productions was acquired by Global Eagle in 2013 and part of Steve’s role these days includes audio business development.He has been actively involved for the past three years in securing industry leading agreements with record labels and publishers and setting up the reporting processes required to meet the new arrangements.

Steve’s presentation will outline the reasons for the transition from the old system of collective licensing to the new system of direct licensing.

Éric Lauzon
Manager, Multimedia Entertainment, Air Canada
Éric Lauzon holds the position of Manager Multimedia Entertainment at Air Canada, since September 2011. As part the Air Canada’s Marketing & Product Design team, Éric is responsible for the development, the implementation and the management of passenger-compelling IFE content, processes and strategies. Employed by Air Canada for more than 18 years, Éric started as a Sales & Customer Service agent. After he graduated with his Masters Science degree in International Marketing, he joined the Marketing Communications department in 2000 where he started as a Tourism Marketing coordinator and ended as the Manager – Marketing Communications – Loyalty, responsible for the development and execution of  advertising, direct response and loyalty marketing campaigns targeting Air Canada’s best customers. Now in charge of their in-flight entertainment experience, he always strives to ensure it is the best one possible.

Éric is a member of the APEX Board of Directors, is the Co-Chair of the MultiMedia Market Committee and serves on the Awards and Marketing & Communications Committees.

Al. St. Germain is senior vice president of global marketing for Spafax. In this role, Al oversees the global management of the Spafax brand including digital marketing, creative development, events, sponsorships, media and communications. He also currently serves as the Publisher of APEX Experience Media, produced by Spafax on behalf of APEX.

Al joined Spafax in 2009 as vice president, USA, to oversee the company’s inflight entertainment management and operations in Orange County, California. Over the next five years, the Spafax Orange County team in California doubled in size, with major growth in both airline accounts and technical services capabilities.

Al has significant experience within the airline industry, having served in marketing positions at both Delta Air Lines and United. Furthermore, he managed major airline brand identity projects during his time at noted WPP agency Landor Associates.

A native of Southern California, Al learned a Bachelor of Arts degree in architecture at Yale University.

Shankar has been in the Inflight Entertainment industry for almost 20 years. He started Ackila in 2010 bringing custom software solutions primarily for the IFE industry.

Prior to Ackila, Shankar has worked at Rockwell Collins, Panasonic Avionics, Thales Avionics and IFE Services utilizing his expertise in the areas of Engineering, R&D, and currently oversees the design and development of many airline GUIs.

He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from California State University at Pomona.



Christiaan van de Koppel

Social Commerce Manager, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines

Christiaan van de Koppel’s working career has been dedicated to personalizing social media experiences for travelers. For the last four years at KLM, he has worked on social media projects ranging from the world’s first airline crowdfunding campaign (KLM Flightfunding) to implementing a global retargeting strategy. Currently, he is part of the KLM Social Commerce team responsible for all social media advertising and commercial campaigns, roughly €30mln additional revenue per year.

David Vogel is AKQA’s Executive Director, Experience Design for Europe. He has over 15 years’ experience in ecommerce, campaigns, and digital product and service design. David has spent three of those years at AKQA, leading the creation of products and experiences that delight consumers.

The term ‘multidisciplinary’ only scratches the surface of this true hybrid strategic-creative-experience-design thinker. David’s application of ideas is definitively future-forward. He has a strong focus on innovation processes and regularly runs rapid prototyping hackathons for global clients including Philips, KLM and MINI.

A regular public speaker at events such as Awwwards, FITC and TEDx, David continues to explore and explain how UX will change the world.

Megan Worley
Product Manager, Inflight Entertainment & Content, American Airlines
Megan has been with American Airlines since 2015 spearheading strategy and implementation of inflight entertainment programs. She has a penchant for innovation and resourceful thinking that has helped drive the future vision, daily operation and marketing of content for the largest airline in the world.

Prior to this, Megan worked in Media Strategy at agency powerhouse OMD for clients such as Infiniti, Hilton and Wells Fargo. She also worked for Initiative+ on the Hyundai account launching its first ever cross-platform marketing program.

She has an MBA from the McCombs School of Business and a BA, with a focus in International Economics and Political Science, from UCLA.
