100 Solutions to Aviation's COVID-19 Problems: Part 2

Traveler expectations are shifting when it comes to entertainment and connectivity. The solutions that made it into our compendium put a special focus on IFE and retail services that can be delivered to personal electronic devices, which minimizes touchpoints in lounges and onboard. Many also give airlines and airports the opportunity to communicate special health and safety messaging to customers. The full list of 100 solutions, sponsored by Diehl, will be featured in the next issue of APEX Experience magazine, which will be released on Tuesday, November 17.

Albany Partners With GE to Track Airport Cleanliness

Albany International Airport is the first partner to sign on with GE Aviation’s Wellness Trace App. The three-month trial will see the airport track the cleaning of various areas through the platform while passengers can scan a QR code at more than 45 points inside to learn when it was last cleaned. GE hopes to expand the program well beyond airports, allowing travelers to contribute feedback on the cleanliness of everything from roadside rest stops to restaurants during their journey. Passenger health screening data could also be included in the future.

Star Air Selects PaxLink for Passenger Management

India’s Star Air selected Collins Aerospace’s PaxLink passenger service system for all of its reservations, inventory, distribution and departure control services. The hosted platform allows Star Air to easily scale up operations, a critical consideration as it pursues smaller regional markets under India’s UDAN program that encourages (and subsidizes) air connectivity on some domestic routes. “We were looking beyond a passenger service system vendor – we found Collins Aerospace to be the reliable business partner who could support Star Air in our journey towards operational excellence,” said Ajay Bhatkal, chief information officer at Star Air.
