United Becomes First Airline To Increase Overhead Bin Size

United Airlines has announced the installation of larger overhead bins on its SkyWest-operated E175 fleet, providing more room for passengers' carry-on bags. The bins will be available on 50 aircraft with a 76-seat configuration by the end of the year, with potential expansion to over 150 aircraft by 2026. United is the first airline to offer these bins on E175s, estimating they will nearly eliminate the need for gate-checking bags on more than 150,000 E175 flights annually. The overhead bins can accommodate up to 29 additional carry-on bags, an 80% increase from the current offering.

More Than One Million Passengers Opt For Lufthansa Group's Green Fares

Lufthansa Group has reached a milestone of one million passengers purchasing its Green Fares, which allow passengers to offset their flight-related CO2 emissions and receive additional benefits such as status miles and free rebooking. Launched in August 2022, the fare option has been popular on routes like Hamburg-Munich, Zurich-London, and Frankfurt-Berlin. On average, 3% of passengers opted for the fare in its first year, with 11% of business class bookings made via Lufthansa Group portals. Delta, Hughes Tout Jupiter Connectivity Following CRJ200 Flight Tests

Delta Air Lines and Hughes Network Systems have successfully tested the Hughes Jupiter inflight connectivity solution aboard a Delta CRJ200, demonstrating strong performance results. After just two 'witness' flights, Delta tapped Hughes to provide IFC on over 400 aircraft, including its Boeing 717 fleet and regional jets. Hughes, a prominent modem provider and capacity supplier for aero ISPs, is a relative newcomer to the direct-to-airline IFC space. Delta selected the GEO-now-focused Hughes Jupiter In-flight solution, but rumors suggest the OneWeb ESA might also be in play for a portion of the project.
