    APEX Media: Mediacorp, Bloomberg Media, PXCom and Spafax are among the content service providers banking on the popularity of millennials, the growing interest in Asia and the desire for premium programming as they curate their media libraries.

    A bevy of announcements from content providers point to wellness, millennials and premium programming as big trends in the in-flight entertainment market.

    Mediacorp Showcases Original Titles With Southeast Asian Perspective

    Mediacorp, Singapore’s national broadcaster, will be showcasing 10 new titles, including Luxe Asia 3, Power List Asia, Food to Go, The Botanic Gardens Stories and Secrets. The company offers original content in English, Mandarin, Malay and Tamil and its content on in-flight entertainment systems has grown threefold since 2014. “We have received good feedback from the airlines on our English programs, which provide an unbiased Asian perspective,” says Suzie Wang, VP, Content Distribution, Mediacorp.

    Bloomberg Media Partners With Premium Entertainment Publishers

    Announced in October, Bloomberg Media Distribution has added a number of big-name publishers to its portfolio. New text and video titles available for distribution include, The Hollywood Reporter, Billboard, Mexican news outlet El Financiero and media startup STAT. “As the media landscape continues to evolve, so has content creation and syndication,” says Josh Rucci, general manager, Bloomberg Media Distribution. “More companies are looking to license content to add breadth and depth for their audiences.” Read more.

    PXCom Navigates China With City Guides From Bamboo Compass

    PXCom has partnered with Bamboo Compass to add a series of Chinese city guides to its content catalog. Owned by Ctrip, a website for airfares and vacation packages, Bamboo Compass is a website that publishes articles on travel in China. Cyril Jean, CEO, PXCom, says the guides are intended for inbound flights to China and will be available in English and Chinese languages. The company is working toward enabling activity booking through the guides. Read more.

    Spafax and VICE Media Bring Millennial Documentaries on Board

    Spafax has partnered with VICE Media to bring content from Viceland, its 24-hour TV channel, to the in-flight entertainment market. The content service provider says the collaboration offers airlines an opportunity to connect with millennials by offering a range of documentaries. “Viceland is a fantastic addition to our portfolio of content brands that help our clients connect with this increasingly influential group of travelers,” says Henry Gummer, VP, Entertainment, Spafax.
