Spafax announced Air Canada as the launch customer for Spafax IQ, the company’s in-flight entertainment and connectivity analytics platform. Spafax said that the platform will provide Air Canada with a set of dashboards showing category and item performance, media and advertising performance and cost per engagement. Spafax IQ crunches these datasets to provide a customized “IQ Index” that assesses content performance against its unique key performance indicators and content strategy.

“We’re gaining a deeper understanding of our customers’ preferences so that we can continue providing industry-leading and relevant options.” – Anton Vidgen, Air Canada

“At Air Canada, we are continually focused on providing an even better customer experience on board, and we’re gaining a deeper understanding of our customers’ preferences so that we can continue providing industry-leading and relevant options,” said Anton Vidgen, director, Brand Experience at Air Canada. “Spafax IQ will provide us with the data we need to deliver an even better entertainment product to our customers and optimize our IFEC investment.”

In separate news, Spafax revealed that it added new features to Profile, the company’s entertainment personalization platform, which launched in 2016 with Lufthansa. Niall McBain, Spafax’s chief executive, said the new features were incorporated as a direct result of the company’s AI-themed hackathon that its in-house development team participated in earlier this year.

Airlines can now add a passenger login feature to track what content is proving to be popular and offer recommendations. Spafax also developed a chatbot feature for the platform, which can respond to questions such as: “What movies will be available on my flight to Boston?” Additionally, users can now ask Alexa what entertainment is available on their upcoming flight, watch trailers, and get recommendations based on previous sessions.

Building on Spafax Profile’s new features, Spafax revealed that SAS has signed on as the product’s sixth airline customer.
