Zhao Dong serves as the Chairman of Xiamen Airlines since February 2019. He has been working in the civil aviation industry for 33 years and has accumulated a breadth of experience in airline operations and management. He was appointed as Xiamen Airlines’ CEO & President in December 2016. Under his leadership, Xiamen Airlines has witnessed a series of milestones: fleeting number exceeding 200; network extending to Europe, North America, and Oceania; wining China Quality Award; having been named CAPSE’s best Chinese airlines in service for 27 quarters; being profitable for 32 consecutive years and counting. And in February 2017, with his great efforts, Xiamen Airlines signed an SDGs agreement with the United Nations and become the first airline in support of the United Nations on SDGs. During his tenure as the Executive Vice President of Xiamen Airlines from 2006 to 2016, he was in charge of marketing & sales, network planning, revenue management, international & alliance affairs, air cargo, passenger services, and branding. During this period, Xiamen Airlines successfully joined SkyTeam Alliance and had speeded up international expansion ever since. Zhao Dong joined Xiamen Airlines in 1989 as an AIS Officer and then worked up to the Director of Flight Operations and Assistant President of Xiamen Airlines. He has personally led and involved in the establishment of Operation Control Center and IT Department, which has laid a solid foundation for the airlines’ safe, efficient and advanced operation system. Prior to joining Xiamen Airlines, Zhao Dong worked as an AIS Officer in CAAC. Zhao Dong graduated from China Civil Aviation University with a bachelor’s degree in Air Traffic Management and has acquired an MBA from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University.
