Nesma Airlines Selects AirFi’s Wireless Entertainment

    APEX Insight: Nesma Airlines is the first Middle Eastern airline to select AirFi’s wireless in-flight entertainment solution, with plans to launch on the Cairo-based carrier’s Airbus A320 aircraft by November this year.

    Nesma Airlines is the first Middle Eastern airline to select AirFi’s wireless in-flight entertainment solution, with plans to launch on the Cairo-based carrier’s Airbus A320 aircraft by November this year. Once available, passengers flying on Nesma will be able view content in English (and eventually Arabic) on their devices via a free onboard Wi-Fi network created by AirFi boxes positioned throughout the cabin.

    Content will be provided with AirFi’s network of more than 50 providers, including its partner OnBoard International and includes movies, TV shows, games, chat, duty free, in-flight retail and daily updated news and social feeds. Passengers can also expect a 3D moving map that offers points of interest for geo-fenced advertising.

    So far, AirFi has 18 airline customers in Europe, as well as one carrier based in the Philippines and one in Mexico. Martijn Moret, AirFi’s chief innovation officer and Director of Operations in Asia, also hinted that further confirmed customer announcements could be expected before the end of the year.

    “We’re very proud to announce our first Middle East airline customer, because it’s a new territory for us. It’s a tangible result of our expansion in focus from solely Europe out to the rest of the world,” Moret says.
