APEX Selects Katie Murphy as Director of Membership & Events

Murphy to Drive World-Class Member Satisfaction, Attendee NPS, and Evolution of APEX’s World Class Global Events

LONDON, April 18, 2023 — The Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX), today announced the selection of Katie Murphy as Director of Membership & Events. In her new role, Murphy will serve as a key leader at APEX, working with senior executives at all of the world’s leading airline suppliers and related industry leaders to drive world-class member satisfaction across the organizations flagship events.

“The APEX Board of Directors approved Katie’s addition for her exceptional industry expertise, leadership, and proven track record in delivering world-class customer event satisfaction and driving incredible results for airline suppliers. We are confident she will drive APEX’s membership and events to the next level of excellence and prominence,” said APEX CEO Dr. Joe Leader.

As Director of Membership & Events, Murphy will be responsible for adding even more value for APEX’s supplier members, expanding the organization’s reach and prominence in the industry, and fostering opportunities in advancing our aviation industry. She will also represent the association to identify creative ways to meet customer needs in the world of face-to-face events, content, and media.

Murphy will showcase the impact APEX members have across all aspects of the passenger experience at APEX EXPO in Los Angeles from 19-21 September highlighting advances in in-flight entertainment content, cabin, comfort, ambience, connectivity, and service. Considered the industry’s most comprehensive and exclusive trade event focused entirely on airline passenger experience, APEX EXPO is expected to draw more than 3,000 airline and supplier leaders in air travel.

As a recognized aviation industry event leader, Katie Murphy has 20 years of experience in international business events. For ten years, she led Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) in Hamburg, Germany. Murphy has continuously demonstrated her skills in creating event strategies, providing value to customers, and finding innovative ways to meet their needs with face-to-face events, content, and media. Recently, she has also helped launch new events and establish digital marketplace communities.

During her two decades in the events industry, Murphy has been quoted by major news outlets including CNN and BBC World News.  She has previously presented at various industry events including Aircraft Interiors Expo, Passenger Experience Conference, APEX/IFSA EXPO, and the prestigious Crystal Cabin Awards.  As the APEX Director of Membership & Events, Murphy will continue to leverage her expertise for global opportunities, with a focus on industry advances, highlights, and issues.

Murphy joins a team of experienced industry professionals at APEX who oversee key committees, communications, marketing, finance, strategy, trade shows, and all internal APEX operations. APEX’s worldwide team includes offices and lead personnel in Atlanta, Beijing, Brussels, Chicago, London, New York, and Washington, D.C.
