2015 Crystal Cabin Awards Shortlist Announced

The 9th annual Crystal Cabin Awards received a record number of submissions this year from 18 countries worldwide. Their shortlist, announced January 15th, includes industry heavyweights from all sectors. APEX media will be on site to cover the award ceremony that will take place during the Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg from April 14-16th.
A jury of 25 international experts – including representatives from airlines, aircraft manufacturers, suppliers, technical service providers, university professors, consultants and specialist journalists will evaluate the shortlisted entrants on criteria ranging from the product’s novelty to its cost-effectiveness.
Entrants will be vying for top position in the following seven categories:
1. Greener Cabin, Health, Safety & Environment
Previous winner (2014): DIEHL Aerospace
2. Industrial Design & Visionary Concepts
Previoius winner (2014): B/E Aerospace
3. Material & Components
Previous winner (2014): Schott
4. Passenger Comfort Hardware
Previous winner (2014): ZIM Flugsitz
5. Passenger Comfort Systems
Previous winner (2014): Lufthansa Technik
6. Premium Class & VIP
Previous winner (2014): Paperclip Design
7. University
Previous winner (2014): Delft Technical University
Trends among this year’s entrants include an emphasis of efficient use of space and materials and new connectivity and IFE standards being set in economy cabins. Airlines on the shortlist hail exclusively from Asia and Arabian Peninsula regions, with Etihad and China Airlines snagging two nods apiece, and Qatar Airways snagging one – all being recognized for their premium product.
