Adient and Collins to Supply Seats for Hawaiian Airlines Dreamliners

Adient Aerospace has obtained a launch customer in Hawaiian Airlines, which will install its Ascent seating system in business class on board its incoming Boeing 787-9 fleet.
Hawaiian Airlines (Hawaiian) has been revealed as the launch customer for Adient Aerospace, the joint venture between The Boeing Company and automotive seat manufacturer Adient that became operational just six months ago in October 2018.
Adient Aerospace is set to supply its Ascent seating system in the premium cabin on board Hawaiian’s incoming 10 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, which will enter service from 2021 on the carrier’s transpacific route network.
“We are excited to announce Hawaiian Airlines as our launch customer for the Ascent seating system,” said Adient Aerospace CEO Alan Wittman. “We look forward to working with Hawaiian Airlines, providing a fresh perspective in cabin quality and comfort to improve the passenger experience.”
The Ascent seating system was designed specifically for the Boeing 787-9 wide-body cabin, and features a modular premium lie-flat seat that can be configured to created double suites. Adient Aerospace is working with Hawaiian to customize the product to suit a wide range of passengers from business travelers to couples and families traveling for leisure who want to enjoy private, shared experiences.
The main cabin on board Hawaiian’s 787-9 fleet will feature Collins Aerospace’s Aspire seats that also feature in the main cabin of the airline’s growing number of Airbus A321neo aircraft.

Additional amenities on board Hawaiian’s 787-9 fleet will include extra-large windows with dimmable LED shades, and larger overhead luggage bins. The carrier has options for a further 10 787-9 aircraft.
