American Airlines is marking its 100th anniversary with a new collection of premium onboard products designed to celebrate its history while enhancing the passenger experience. The carrier is introducing limited-edition centennial amenity kits, pajamas, and updated slippers across its premium cabins beginning in April.
A Century of Design Reflected in the Cabin
American Airlines has unveiled three distinct centennial amenity kits, each inspired by a different era in the airline’s history. It created the Astrojet, Silverbird, and Forward designs to reflect its past, present, and future.

The Astrojet design, which features an orange lightning bolt on a navy blue bag, draws from the optimism of the early jet age with its bold color combination. Meanwhile, the Silverbird kit, with a metallic finish and tribar stripe channel, reflects the golden age of air travel. Finally, the Forward design takes the shape of a red bag complete with angled stitching, inspired by American’s flight symbol and newest seat designs, to represent the airline’s future.

Together, the designs create a cohesive narrative that extends beyond the cabin. The same visual themes appear across lounges, digital platforms, and onboard content, reinforcing the airline’s centennial celebration at every touchpoint.
“As we celebrate a century of connecting customers to the world, we wanted this milestone to feel personal the moment someone settles into their seat,” said American Airlines Chief Customer Officer Heather Garboden. “Every detail in these centennial kits and pajamas pays homage to the eras that shaped us, from the bold optimism of Astrojet to the refined glamour of Silverbird and the forward momentum guiding our next century. They’re our way of saying thank you to the customers who make every journey possible.”
Inside the amenity kits, passengers will find a curated selection of comfort-focused items including upgraded eye masks and socks, dental kits, mouthwash, foldable combs and skincare products from Joanna Vargas. The items vary by cabin, with more elevated offerings in Flagship First and Flagship Business kits including sheet masks and under-eye patches, while in Premium Economy the kits feature a streamlined set of essentials.

This thoughtful approach to design reflects evolving passenger expectations. Travelers increasingly look for products that feel high-quality, aesthetically pleasing and useful beyond the flight. These centennial kits are intended to function as everyday items, extending their value after the journey.
Elevating Comfort Through Premium Details
In addition to its centennial amenity kits, American is introducing limited-edition pajamas that continue the same three-era storytelling. The updated design features a deep blue color palette with subtle logos referencing the Astrojet, Silverbird, and Forward themes. They will be offered to passengers in Flagship First and Flagship Suite Preferred seats, as well as on select ultra-long-haul Flagship Business routes.
The airline is also updating its inflight slippers, moving to a closed-toe design based on customer feedback.

These product updates are part of a wider set of centennial initiatives designed to enhance the onboard experience. American has also introduced special aircraft liveries, curated inflight menus, and themed entertainment content via a dedicated inflight channel, “Now Starring: American,” featuring films and content that show the airline’s role in aviation and pop culture over the years.
