The APEX Cool Award Targets Inflight Media Digital

Driven by unique solutions that give advertisers the ability to target a specific onboard audience, Inflight Media Digital (IMD) has been named the winner of the 2019 APEX Cool Award. “I’m very proud and honored,” said Jean-Marc Chevassus, CEO of IMD, part of the IMM International Group.

Working with in-flight entertainment and connectivity providers, IMD helps advertisers precisely target the traveling audience, delivering an onboard campaign that can consist of video ads, interstitials or classic website display ads.

“We have developed our own technology, with software experts and digital advertising specialists. We have developed very specific ad servers – the first independent in-flight advertising server, called AirSAS, in the market. We are technologically agnostic, so we are able to work with all IFE systems,” said Chevassus.

IMD is currently partnered with 27 airlines, and by using its in-flight media marketplace, called AirPMP, an airline’s sales team can optimize its revenue stream by optimizing ad campaigns.

The ability to develop targeted campaigns is appealing to new advertisers and represents a move away from traditional global luxury product, travel retail and financial institutions. “Now, with the targeting that digital advertising is allowing, we are seeing more and more destination advertisers coming on board. Up to now, advertisers were focused on airlines,” said Chevassus. “Now, they are focused on passengers.”
