Online submissions for a special category of the Crystal Cabin Awards, “Best Customer Journey Experience,” are open from today until July 10. The award, which aims to provide inspiring examples of how new service-oriented products can be developed to offer a personalized passenger experience, will be announced during the 2024 APEX Global EXPO from October 28-30 in Long Beach, California.

The special category was first launched in 2018. The most recent winner was Airbus, which received the Crystal Cabin Award for “Best Customer Journey Experience” for its “Connected Experience” concept, an application that integrated passenger and crew communication in the aircraft cabin. The other finalists in the category included Diehl, for a voice-controlled aircraft lavatory; and Latécoère, with a concept for light-based data transfer.

“We are honored to once again announce the Crystal Cabin Award category that is going to be awarded at APEX Global EXPO later this year,” stated Dr Joe Leader, Group CEO of the Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX) and member of the judging panel of the Crystal Cabin Award. “As the most prestigious awards in the airline industry, the Crystal Cabin Awards have expanded far beyond their spiritual home in Hamburg and genuinely encompass the world. We want to make certain that we proudly carry the Crystal Cabin Awards forward across all of our events worldwide.”

For those interested in submitting an entry, the Crystal Cabin Awards define “Best Customer Journey Experience” as a category that includes products designed to enrich and improve the passenger experience with hardware or software solutions throughout the entire flight journey from the planning and booking phase to boarding the aircraft, ordering products in-flight or accompanying the passenger after landing.

Examples of such products could be traveler-centric smartphone apps that support passengers during their journey, or digital applications that improve airline product management, for example. Entries can be aimed at passengers, airlines, manufacturers and/or suppliers.

Submissions must be made via the Crystal Cabin Awards website.
