British Airways is redesigning its Airbus A380 cabins from nose to tail, with 106 Club Suites taking over the entire upper deck and new or updated seats across First, World Traveller Plus, and World Traveller. The first refurbished aircraft is expected to enter service in the coming months, bringing passengers more privacy, larger entertainment screens, upgraded bedding, and additional storage across all four cabins. The retrofit forms part of British Airways’ wider multi-billion-dollar investment in the customer experience.

106 Club Suites Fill the Upper Deck

British Airways will dedicate the A380’s entire upper deck to Club World, creating a 106-seat Club Suite cabin that the airline says will become the world’s largest business-class cabin.

“This is a major milestone for British Airways and the future of our A380 fleet, marking one of the most significant transformations we’ve ever undertaken on any aircraft,” said British Airways Chairman and CEO Sean Doyle.

The refreshed Club Suite adds storage and updated finishes while retaining features including a privacy door and direct aisle access. British Airways will divide the upper deck into four cabin zones, with Club Kitchens and redesigned galley areas giving passengers spaces to pick up snacks and move away from their seats during the flight.

The wider A380 redesign includes the aircraft’s seats, galleys, and stairways, with more than 35,000 individual parts installed on each aircraft. The refurbished A380 will carry 12 First suites, 106 Club World seats, 84 World Traveller Plus seats, and 215 World Traveller seats.

World Traveller Plus will feature wider seats in a 2-3-2 layout with a 38-inch pitch, additional recline, larger entertainment screens, and privacy wings around the headrest. Passengers will also receive new bedding and an amenity kit that can be reused as a tote bag after the flight.

World Traveller passengers will receive wider seats, upgraded bedding, and new 12-inch HD entertainment screens. Bluetooth connectivity will allow travelers to use their own headphones with the in-flight entertainment (IFE) system, while USB-C ports at every seat will help keep personal devices charged during long-haul flights.

“We’ve completely reimagined the customer experience, introducing new and updated seats in every cabin, all carefully considered to deliver greater comfort and an elevated customer experience,” Doyle said.

First Adds More Privacy and Personal Space

At the front of the aircraft, British Airways will introduce 12 First suites. Each suite features a 60-inch privacy wall and a fully flat 6-foot-7-inch bed, along with dedicated storage, a personal wardrobe, and an in-seat minibar.

Passengers traveling together in the center suites can open the divider to create a shared space, while a companion seat and table allow two travelers to dine together. The cabin will also receive new bedding, amenity kits, and a refreshed dining service.

British Airways is also rolling out its new “From the Grill” dining concept across First on its long-haul fleet, allowing passengers to choose from different proteins, sides, and sauces.

Doyle said the new First suite sits at the center of the transformation, while the wider investment extends across redesigned interiors, upgraded dining, new amenities, and service delivery throughout the aircraft.

The A380 refurbishment forms part of British Airways’ wider $9 billion transformation plan, with the new interiors bringing upgrades across all four travel classes. The first completed A380 is expected to return to service in the coming months, beginning the wider refurbishment of British Airways’ A380 fleet.
