APEX Insight: As this year’s APEX EXPO fast approaches, APEX Media asks airline passenger experience industry stakeholders to share their anticipated event highlights, their favored industry trends and their Singapore tips.

As program manager for American Airlines’ In-Flight and Admirals Club Entertainment and Connectivity division, Megan Worley is tasked with spearheading the strategy and implementation of in-flight entertainment programs. While Worley will present on American’s strategies for defining the passenger experience at APEX EXPO Education Day, her presence at the conference isn’t exclusively educational; American Airlines has been nominated for three APEX Awards in the categories of Best Original Audio, Best Cabin Innovation and Best Passenger Comfort Innovation.

megan worleyWhy is APEX EXPO a must-attend event?

EXPO is the one time a year that suppliers, distributors and airlines can come together under one roof to share new products and ideas with each other. The breadth of the exhibitors rivals none. I am always excited to speak with people who may sit half way across the world to learn more about their products and perspectives on the industry.

What top in-flight entertainment trends have you been following?

Virtual reality is a very hot trend right now. The headsets take the in-flight experience to a completely new level whereby you’re fully immersed in the content you’re viewing. The technology is still fairly new, and I think there is still some work to do on the operational side. However, I’m excited to see where it’s going to go.

What do you look forward to most at EXPO?

One of my favorite parts of EXPO is meeting with international suppliers. We are very well versed in US products and trends given geographical proximity but don’t have as much contact with international suppliers. Another of my favorite parts is catching up with current suppliers – learning about their new products and talking future strategy is always very exciting.

What has been your most memorable EXPO moment?

My most memorable EXPO moment would have to be walking onto the floor for the first time and seeing just how massive it really is. All the exhibitors’ booths were branded so well that I wanted to check out each and every one that caught my eye.

     Your Singapore travel tip?

I’ve actually never been to Singapore so I can’t give any travel tips. However, I hear the shopping and the restaurants are amazing!
