La Compagnie is the latest airline to join ViaSat’s roster of customers. The in-flight Wi-Fi provider confirmed yesterday that it will be equipping Aeromexico’s Boeing 737 MAX fleet with its Ka-band connectivity solution.
La Compagnie is set to install ViaSat’s in-flight connectivity (IFC) solution on board a brand-new, all business-class A321neo, thereby offering each of its 76 passengers unlimited in-flight Wi-Fi. The aircraft is scheduled to begin operating La Compagnie’s two daily flights between New York and Paris in April 2019.
Line-fit installations on board Aeromexico’s new Boeing 737 MAXs have already begun, with plans to deploy ViaSat’s in-flight connectivity (IFC) service on 18 aircraft of the type. The carrier has the option of increasing this number to 60.
After evaluating ViaSat’s offering against that of its competitors, Aeromexico cited the ability to tap into the ViaSat-2 satellite as one of the deciding factors. “With ViaSat-2 and subsequently ViaSat-3, we will bring even greater speeds and reliability with built-in scale and flexibility to serve millions of passengers daily as they fly across multiple continents,” said Don Buchman, vice-president and general manager, Commercial Aviation, Viasat.
