Q&A with Barry Flynn of Inflight Dublin

We had a quick chat with Barry Flynn, Head of Business Development for Inflight Dublin, about his thoughts on the latest APEX TV Market.

Q: How do you feel about having a major APEX Event right in your own backyard?

We travel to events all over the world so to have an APEX event here in Ireland feels quite surreal but ultimately Inflight Dublin is extremely proud for this event to be held in Dublin, and more than happy to showcase what this great city has to offer.

Q: What are some of the great things about living and working in Dublin?

I could wax lyrical about a range of things, from sport to culture, but really it comes down to the people. We pride ourselves on our hospitality and work ethic and I think everybody attending this week will see first-hand how the Irish go out of their way to make people feel welcome. To have such an abundant amount of highly skilled, educated and innovative individuals/companies, on our doorstep, is also extremely beneficial and it is a core element of our continued growth and success.

Q: Any hidden places for APEX visitors to check out while they’re at the show?

I think anybody coming to Ireland for the first time has a real opportunity to see some historic and cultural sights. Ireland is an extremely small country and to drive coast to coast only takes a few hours so people should really try and visit the iconic attractions like the Cliffs of Moher or Newgrange while they are here. For those who are stuck for time, Dublin City has a lot to offer from attractions like Trinity College, to Christchurch Cathedral. It also has an amazing mix of restaurants and bars, with places like Fade Street offering a nice trendy spot to hang out. If retail therapy is on the agenda, Grafton Street or Dundrum Town Centre has everything you could want.

Q: What are Inflight Dublin’s goals/thoughts/advantages from a CSP perspective in the next year?  Next five years?

There is no doubt that the Inflight Entertainment market is changing, with the introduction of connectivity and streaming technologies, but Inflight Dublin will continue to provide clients with tailored IFE solutions that goes beyond their expectations. I use the word “tailored” because it truly is. Our approach as a company is that every client requires, and deserves, a bespoke IFE package and Inflight Dublin has diversified into new areas, such as; publishing, digital marketing and software development, to assist our clients in providing an IFE service that is truly unique.

Thanks for taking the time to speak with us Barry!
