      Rockwell Collins Inks Avionics Contract With BOC Aviation at Singapore Airshow

      APEX Insight: Rockwell Collins’ deal with aircraft leasing company BOC Aviation further extends its presence on the Boeing 737 MAX program.

      At the Singapore Airshow, Rockwell Collins announced that a host of its avionics products were selected for baseline configuration on 74 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft purchased by aircraft lessor BOC Aviation, headquartered in Singapore with offices in Dublin, London, New York and Tianjin.

      The contract includes installation of Rockwell Collins’ MultiScan ThreatTrack weather radar, GLU-2100 Multi-Mode Receiver and TTR-2100 Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance (TCAS II) system. BOC Aviation has also signed options for Rockwell Collins Iridium ICS-300 SATCOM unit, which offers long-range voice and data link communications.

      “After providing BOC Aviation with our proven suite of avionics systems for 33 Next-Generation Boeing 737 aircraft last year, we were honored that they again chose Rockwell Collins for their newest fleet of 737 MAX aircraft,” said Jim Walker, vice-president and managing director, Asia Pacific, Rockwell Collins. “This latest commercial contract is among a number of key civil and military projects that allow us to contribute to the region’s ongoing technological growth, as well as providing airlines with the latest flight decks to ensure passenger safety.”

      Rockwell Collins’ presence on the 737 MAX extended beyond avionics after the company acquired B/E Aerospace last year. The company’s Interior Systems business also supplies an integrated aft galley and lavatory complex, lavatory, interior lighting and passenger oxygen systems as standard equipment on 737 MAX aircraft, with cabin options for passenger seating, food and beverage preparation, portable oxygen devices and crew masks.

      BOC Aviation has a fleet of 491 aircraft owned, managed and on order. The lessor serves 80 airlines in 33 countries around the word.
