Air New Zealand has added another rung to its roster of elaborate in-flight safety videos. Just a few days into its worldwide release, “Safety in Hollywood,” starring Kiwi comedian Rhys Darby and actress Anna Faris, has racked up over 770,000 YouTube views.
Last week, Air New Zealand launched a new in-flight safety video, starring Kiwi comedian Rhys Darby and actress Anna Faris. “Safety in Hollywood” debuted on Wednesday at West Hollywood’s airport-themed bar, Now Boarding, where the cocktail menus resemble seatback emergency cards, the booths are lined with branded headrest covers, the walls are covered with vintage airport code posters and illuminated route maps and the bartenders wear pilot uniforms.
As actors Martin Henderson and Michelle Ang looked on, Nick Judd, Air New Zealand’s regional general manager of the Americas, introduced the video. “Safety in Hollywood” makes several nods to Tinseltown in the name of safety, including Faris as a lumberjack murderer chasing Darby dressed as Marilyn Monroe, a mime and an appearance by a Chihuahua named Chester who has starred in Transformers and Grey’s Anatomy. There’s even a Wild West shoot-out, which takes place at an iconic Warner Brothers studio set.
“Air New Zealand’s safety videos are a Kiwi staple and reflect the Kiwi sense of humour,” said Rhys Darby in a press release. “I think people will really enjoy watching this safety video as it takes them on a magical ride through the movie making world, while still bringing to life the key safety messages.” “Safety in Hollywood” is the most recent in a slew of elaborate safety videos produced by the airline, including the Hobbit-themed “Most Epic Safety Video Ever Made” and the “Men In Black Safety Defenders.” Just a few days into its worldwide release, “Safety in Hollywood” has racked up over 770,000 YouTube views.
