True Blue Powers Up Dash 8 and Q400 Emergency Lighting

Adding to its line of advanced lithium-ion (li-ion) batteries, True Blue Power has introduced its new TS60 Series Emergency Battery Power Supply.
Designed as a drop in replacement for legacy nickel-cadmium alternatives, the TS60 has received a Supplemental Type Certificate from Transport Canada for installation in all Bombardier DHC-8s, including the Dash 8 Series 100, 200, 300 and Q400 aircraft.
The battery has been designed to provide between 30 minutes and more than 40 minutes of power to the twin-turboprop’s emergency lighting system, depending on the selected cell configuration in the TS60.
In overcoming the challenges in engineering a safe and efficient li-ion battery design, the hermetically-sealed, non-venting TS60 is the first li-ion battery to meet new, rigorous Technical Standard Order (TSO) C179b requirements.

According to True Blue, the TS60 utilizes the company’s proprietary Nanophosphate li-ion cell chemistry, that “provides stable chemistry, faster charging, consistent output, excellent cycle life and superior cost performance.”
