United has offered luggage delivery for domestic flights for years – at a cost for customers. Now the airline will provide a complimentary delivery service for travelers staying at specific Marriott International properties

Starting November 1, United Airlines will begin offering complimentary baggage delivery service to its Polaris business-class customers on flights from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to London Heathrow (LHR), who are staying at select Marriott hotels. The airline has been offering luggage delivery at select US airports for a fee via Bags VIP since 2013.

The complimentary service applies for the following hotels in London: JW Marriott Grosvenor House London, London Marriott Hotel Canary Wharf, London Marriott Hotel County Hall, Sheraton Grand London Park Lane and St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel London. Pre-registration is not required. Travelers can proceed through immigration and customs as normal, and follow signs for the bag drop desk in the arrivals area of London Heathrow.

“The flight between New York/Newark and London is one of the most serviced routes in the world, and we are continually looking at how we can offer superior services and amenities for our customers traveling between these two major cities,” said Andrew Nocella, United’s chief commercial officer, in a press release. “And as our customers continue to demand greater convenience and choices, we will be ready to deliver, offering the caring, creative solutions that will keep them choosing United.”

Passengers who are part of the Marriott Bonvoy travel program and have booked their hotel stay directly will be notified through the Bonvoy smartphone app when their bags have arrived at their hotel.

United’s new service launch coincides with the airline operating its newly-reconfigured Boeing 767-300ER on the EWR-LHR route. This aircraft has 16 additional United Polaris business-class seats, all with direct aisle access.
