As part of the “Future Airport Conference” at FTE EMEA in Istanbul, Turkey, director of Expansion Strategy & Future Operations for Heathrow Airport Fiona Carleton presented on how Heathrow is planning to grow its site through innovation and collaboration. Director of APEX Media, Maryann Simson, interviewed her to find out more.
With the addition of a third runway at Heathrow, Carleton said the airport will be able to accommodate up to 130 million passengers and 740,000 aircraft movements each year. However, she made clear Heathrow does not support the expansion at any cost, and explained the ways in which Heathrow is making an effort to grow both sustainably and with the support of the local community.
