APEX Insight: In the latest episode of APEX Insider, creative director of Factorydesign Adam White describes how he envisages the aircraft cabin of the future and weighs in on the contentious subject of intellectual property.

In this edition of APEX Insider, Factorydesign’s creative director, Adam White, recalls his company’s work on British Airways’ Concorde and one of his all-time favorite briefs – creating a new cabin for Etihad’s A380 aircraft.

White identifies a shift in the approach to cabin design, namely, a move away from a “the seat is always the hero” mentality, and the potential for new materials to “liberate” aircraft cabin design.

He also touches on the inherent challenges in the management of intellectual property, which he calls “the designer’s currency,” and how he’s hopeful the future will bring more equitable relationships between airlines, designers and manufacturers.
