Vietjet has signed an agreement with Starlink to bring free, high-speed Wi-Fi across its domestic and international network. The airline plans to install Starlink on 120 aircraft, including 100 Airbus A321 and Boeing 737 aircraft and 20 Airbus A330s, before adding the service to future aircraft deliveries. The rollout will give passengers access to streaming, messaging, work, and other online services while making connectivity a bigger part of Vietjet’s inflight experience.

Connectivity Becomes a Bigger Part of Vietjet’s Passenger Experience

The partnership will bring Starlink’s high-speed, low-latency in-flight connectivity (IFC) to both narrowbody and widebody aircraft. Rather than treating Wi-Fi as a paid extra, Vietjet plans to make connectivity part of the overall inflight experience.

Starlink uses low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellites to provide high-speed, low-latency internet, including over oceans, polar regions, and remote areas. That coverage can help Vietjet keep passengers connected across different parts of its network, including longer international flights.

For travelers, that means using many of the same online services in the air that they use on the ground. Free access also removes the need to buy a separate Wi-Fi plan, giving passengers more choices for how they spend their time onboard.

“With Starlink, time in the air no longer has to mean time offline,” said Vietjet Chairwoman Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao. “Vietjet passengers will be able to stay connected throughout their journey, whether working, staying entertained, or keeping in touch with family and friends. This reflects Vietjet’s longstanding commitment to innovation and our ambition to bring leading technologies closer to more people.”

“The introduction of Starlink on Vietjet will build on the fast, reliable service already connecting homes and businesses on the ground in Vietnam,” said SpaceX Senior Vice President of Global Business and Government Affairs Tim Hughes. “We’re thrilled to deliver a connectivity experience to Vietjet and its customers, making every journey better, smoother and infinitely more enjoyable.”

Vietjet Expands Its Digital Passenger Experience

The Starlink rollout builds on Vietjet’s wider investment in technology and the passenger experience. The airline continues investing in data and artificial intelligence as it grows its fleet and network, while Starlink brings part of that investment directly to travelers.

The wider Vietjet brand has also started adding more digital services onboard. In July 2025, Vietjet Thailand announced plans to introduce its first in-flight entertainment (IFE) system through Bluebox Aviation Systems’ Blueview platform.

Blueview delivers movies, television shows, music, a moving map, and other content directly to passengers’ personal devices. Vietjet Thailand planned to introduce the service across its Airbus fleet before expanding it to incoming Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.

As more passengers expect to stay connected while they travel, airlines continue to make high-speed Wi-Fi a bigger part of the inflight experience. Vietjet’s latest investment reflects that shift as connectivity becomes a larger part of the passenger experience.
