APEX Insight: For nine days this month, Londoners can pop in to The Joint Venture pop-up pub to get a taste of the US destinations they can travel to through Virgin Atlantic and Delta’s partnership.

Having a pint at the pub and traveling are both great ways to meet new people. With that in mind, Virgin Atlantic and Delta Air Lines announced they will be taking over a watering hole in central London for nine days this month. The reason? To give Brits a taste of the 200-plus US destinations they can fly to through the airlines’ transatlantic joint venture.

The Joint Venture “pop-up pub” will be located at The Old Crown Public House on New Oxford Street from August 10 to August 19. Craft beers will be available, from all 230 US destinations that are accessible through the airlines’ transatlantic joint venture.

“What better way to bring people together than over a beer, or better still, 230 beers,” Claire Cronin, senior vice-president of Marketing at Virgin Atlantic, said. “The Joint Venture will bring a taste of the US to London and through the ever-popular US craft beer scene, show the variety of destinations that UK travelers can fly to with Virgin Atlantic and Delta Air Lines.”

Virgin Atlantic expects to serve 13 tons of American craft ales at the pub. Some of the beers on offer including Ruben’s Brew Pilsner from Seattle, New York’s Six Point Brewing Sweet Action, 420 Pale Ale from Atlanta-based SweetWater Brewing and Spencer Brewing Trappist Ale, which is brewed 55 miles west of Boston by the Trappist monks of St. Joseph’s Abbey in Spencer, Massachusetts.

During the nine days that it will be open, the Joint Venture pub will host themed nights in celebration of cities including Miami, New York, Seattle, Atlanta and Boston, in addition to two American-themed pub quiz evenings with prizes, including transatlantic flights, up for grabs.

“Delta and Virgin Atlantic are both renowned for their hospitality and The Joint Venture enables us to bring this from the air to the ground, so come down and enjoy this truly special transatlantic pub experience,” said Corneel Koster, Delta’s senior vice-president, Europe, Middle East, Africa and India.
