Won’t Be Long Before Hong Kong!

If you follow the APEX media team on Instagram you know we have a slight obsession with carpet. Although #airportcarpet is our fav, we certainly don’t limit ourselves to this category. We’ve been known to snap shots of the carpet every where we go, including the carpet at APEX EXPO and FTE Global and, since APEX Asia is right around the corner, we wanted to share with you this Hong Kong-themed carpet discovery. Are you ready?

What is it you ask? It’s the most beautiful area rug we’ve ever seen and it’s based on satellite images of Hong Kong. Genius!

“I have always been inspired by watching the landscape go by when I fly and thought that it would be great to transform these impressions into floor covering for your home,”

says Austrian designer of the rugs and architect Florian Pucher. Pucher’s designs are made with 100 percent imported New Zealand wool and represent landscapes from around the world.  We’ll take one of each please!

But it wouldn’t be the first time satellite images have inspired carpet designs. Iranian artist Seyed Alavi designed a similar concept on the pedestrian bridge connecting the Sacramento International Airport terminal to the parking lot. The carpet offers aerial views of the Sacramento River.

And just how well do the carpets depict the real satellite images? You be the judge. Check out the comparison below and see if you can spot the pin drop of the Regal Hong Kong Hotel, where the events for APEX Asia will be taking place.
