      Zii Announces New VP of IFE Products and Strategy

      Benjamin Asmar joins Zodiac Inflight Innovations from Virgin Australia, where he spent nearly nine years leading product development and customer experience for the airline.

      Zodiac Aerospace announced yesterday that its subsidiary, Zodiac Inflight Innovations (Zii), has appointed Benjamin Asmar as VP, IFE Products and Strategy. In this role, Asmar will lead Zii’s product group to further develop and deploy products and services for its RAVE in-flight entertainment system.

      Asmar joins Zii from Virgin Australia, where he spent nearly nine years leading product development and customer experience for the airline. For the past five years, Asmar focused on passenger experience, driving major changes across all passenger touchpoints, including the in-flight entertainment (IFE) and connectivity offerings.

      “RAVE is a fantastic product and the team at Zii have really thought about what makes airline operations difficult and frustrates passengers when it comes to in-flight entertainment, and have gone about removing these pain points to give passengers a world class IFE experience whilst reducing operational overheads,” Asmar said. “I’m looking forward to working with the team to continue to drive innovation in passenger experience.”

      Zii featured new displays and updated software for its RAVE platform at APEX EXPO in September. The new kit includes larger screens that are also thinner and lighter than the prior generation, as well as support for Bluetooth audio pairing. Multiple (unnamed) airline customers are confirmed for the new system.
