Saudi Arabia’s Neo Space Group (NSG) is acquiring wireless in-flight entertainment and connectivity (IFEC) company Display Interactive (DI) to strengthen its position as a provider of integrated, multi-orbit solutions.
The collaboration between NSG and DI began with the two developing products together in 2023, before DI introduced the Skywaves satellite connectivity system in cooperation with NSG in May 2024.
By integrating DI’s advanced technology and product portfolio, NSG will deliver a fully unified IFC solution that combines intelligent traffic management through Skywaves with a seamless digital passenger experience via its SkyFly end-user portal. DI says SkyFly enables a range of services for passengers at the touch of a button during flights, such as movie streaming, online shopping, and other digital services with seamless user experience.
Supported by the SES Open Orbits network, NSG’s system intelligently routes traffic across multiple satellite providers, ensuring uninterrupted, high-speed connectivity for airlines and passengers worldwide. Its connectivity clients already include Thai Airways, Turkish Airlines and Uzbekistan Airways.
NSG CEO Martijn Blanken stated, “The IFC sector is evolving rapidly, and remaining competitive requires a strong customer focus, continuous innovation, and adaptability. Acquiring DI strengthens our ability to deliver cutting-edge connectivity solutions while ensuring passengers enjoy an unparalleled in-flight experience with seamless connectivity, high-speed internet, and real-time entertainment and communication.”
“Joining forces with Neo Space Group allows us to open a new chapter, scaling our technology and expanding our impact in global aviation. Together, we will push the boundaries of innovation and connectivity in the most agile way,” added Display Interactive CEO Tarek El Mitwalli.
NSG celebrated its first anniversary in May this year, having already made a slew of acquisitions. This latest acquisition marks part of NSG’s commitment to advancing the ambitions of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which sees a demand for enhanced digital communications and has the aim of establishing the Kingdom as a leader in the global space and aerospace domain.
