Airline Style at 30,000 Feet
Keith Lovegrove
This book sits on my office shelf, and it’s a must-have for any airline design nerd. It’s now titled AirlineStyle at 30,000 Feet in an obvious play to the people who can’t get enough of 1960s flight attendant uniforms (of which there are plenty). But it’s original title was Airline, Identity, Design and Culture, and that is much more reflective of the thorough look at amenities, service and overall branding that this wonderful book offers.

Invisibles: The Power of Anonymous Work in an Age of Relentless Self-Promotion
David Zweig
I discovered this book while researching the topic of airport wayfinding, covered in chapter one, “Ambivalence to Recognition,” but after that chapter I couldn’t stop reading about the other “invisible jobs” Zweig provides behind-the-scenes looks at though interviews with experts in extremely niche fields. Crammed with tons of factoids and information – but instead of being dense, Zweig’s style is gripping and his curious sense of discovery is contagious.
