EVA Air has selected Panasonic Avionics Corporation’s Arc 3D inflight map platform for its Boeing 787, Boeing 777-300ER, and upcoming Airbus A350-1000 aircraft as part of its continued investment in the passenger experience. The system introduces a more interactive and visually enhanced map that includes destination content, new viewing features, and family-focused elements.
Reimagining the Inflight Map Experience
For many passengers, the inflight map remains one of the most-used features of the entertainment system. While traditional maps mainly show flight progress, altitude, and arrival times, newer systems are becoming more interactive and content-rich experiences.

EVA Air has become the first airline in Taiwan to introduce Panasonic Avionics Corporation’s Arc 3D Flight Map software, thereby bringing a redesigned interface with enhanced visuals and expanded features for passengers.
Unlike conventional flight maps, Arc focuses on three major elements: visual quality, smooth interaction, and passenger engagement. Travelers can choose from more than 15 viewing options during the flight, including window views, overhead perspectives, follow-the-aircraft modes, and cockpit-style views that create a more immersive experience.

The updated platform also adds new destination features. Instead of only showing where the aircraft is, passengers can explore selected cities through detailed maps and information about local attractions.
EVA Air has also selected Panasonic’s Arc Vistas screensaver experience, which combines cinematic aerial imagery with real-time flight progress information to create a more visually engaging cabin environment.
“Arc is designed to make air travel a more enjoyable and engaging experience for passengers of all ages,” said Panasonic Avionics Senior Director of Digital Solutions Product Line Management Patrick Biggerstaff. “EVA Air’s renowned focus on passenger experience and innovation makes them the perfect airline to launch our Young Explorer feature, and we are proud to be working with them to redefine the inflight map experience across their fleet.”
Arc for Young Explorers Brings Family Experiences to the Cabin
One of the most distinctive parts of EVA Air’s rollout is that it will introduce Panasonic’s new Arc for Young Explorers feature, a child-focused interactive mode within the moving map experience.
Rather than simply showing flight and location information, the feature turns the moving map into an educational experience designed for families traveling with children. The dinosaur-themed mode lets younger passengers follow the prehistoric flying reptile Quetzalcoatlus along the flight path while learning about dinosaurs linked to regions the aircraft is flying over.

As the flight continues, animated dinosaur characters appear on the map, creating an interactive prehistoric experience layered onto real-time flight information. The system also includes educational facts about each dinosaur, including their characteristics, behaviors, and history.
The feature combines entertainment and learning while creating opportunities for children and parents to engage together during longer flights. It also reflects a broader trend in in-flight entertainment (IFE), where airlines are increasingly creating content for specific passenger groups instead of using the same experience for everyone. Family travelers in particular remain an important segment where more personalized experiences can help improve satisfaction.
The rollout also goes beyond passenger engagement and includes operational and commercial opportunities. EVA Air will integrate Arc with Panasonic Avionics Corporation’s OneMedia platform, allowing advertising to appear directly within the map interface.
