QuiverTree Signs Content Deal with eSports Club Movistar Riders

Share

QuiverTree Media has teamed up with an eSports club to enhance its in-flight entertainment offering.

Content service provider QuiverTree Media has signed an exclusive 12-month agreement with one of Spain’s leading eSports clubs, Movistar Riders, to distribute 58 episodes of its content in-flight as it looks to grow both its eSports and sports content offering for airlines.

As a result, Movistar Riders’ content will be available on flights operated by Iberia Express, VivaAerobus, Volotea, Air Nostrum, Orbest, Sun Express, Pegaso, Binter and W2Fly. QuiverTree Media predicts that throughout the next year, the content will have the opportunity to be viewed by up to 28 million passengers.

The content itself includes documentaries such as FIFA_Movistar Riders and Movistar Riders in the WeCup; masterclasses from the Fornite Riders Academy and full seasons of games including AFK, Counter-Strike:Global Offensive and League of Legends plus entertainment such as e-Cats.

“The world of eSports already competes with real-life sports in terms of viewership, audience interest, and advertising spend. With this new reality, QuiverTree Media had to offer this new content to customers,” said Vincent Tomasoni, VP Operations at QuiverTree Media.

Fernando Piquer, Movistar Riders’ CEO, added, “We are very happy that Movistar Riders’ content is now part of the offer for airlines. eSports knows no barriers and, in this way, we will accompany gaming fans to all their favorite destinations, making them enjoy their trip from the very first moment.”

Airlines are also increasingly showcasing eSports brands in other ways, too. For example, in May 2021 Etihad Airways inked a long-term partnership with Abu Dhabi-based eSports organization Team Nigma which, as a result, began featuring Etihad’s logo on its team jerseys.
