Rockwell Collins to Provide Onboard Broadband to Air Astana
Rockwell Collins will provide in-flight connectivity for Kazakhstan-based Air Astana. Inmarsat’s high-speed Global Xpress (GX) connectivity system will allow passengers to access the Internet on their devices, likely enhancing the airline’s IFE offer. The installation program will begin September 2016 on the airline’s fleet of Boeing 767 aircraft. Read more

In addressing a growing demand from airlines, Cobham SATCOM and Boeing have certified the Aviator 600S and 700S satcom systems on the airframer’s Next-Gen 737 and 737 MAX, and the 777-300ER and 777X wide-body aircraft. Cobham’s Aviator S equipment supports Inmarsat’s new generation SwiftBroadband Safety service.

AerolÃneas Argentinas and Austral have selected SITAONAIR to provide Electronic Flight Bags and Crew Tablets, which will digitize more than 15 hard copy reports and replace several kilos per flight. SITAONAIR will also provide the airlines with a virtual Quick Access Recorder data capture, improving the efficiency and accuracy of offloading data.

Recaro Receives Order for 2,500 Economy Seats from Air China
Recaro has announced an order of 2,500 economy seats from Air China to fit 10 Airbus A350s. The flag carrier selected the popular and award-winning CL3710 economy seat for its modernity. This announcement is one of the biggest Recaro has made at AIX so far. Read more

Along with showcasing its Airspace by Airbus concept at AIX, Airbus also made a slew of other announcements: a contract to upgrade the business-class cabins of Malaysia Airlines’ A330 fleet; that Delta Air Lines recently took delivery of the first A321 equipped with new pivoting overhead bins; the Space-Flex v2 rear cabin configuration; and another Airspace announcement to come tomorrow. Panasonic Announces IFE Deals and Becomes First to Offer NFC Tech For Multiple OEMS
Panasonic Avionics announced it will provide its latest broadband-connected entertainment system to Singapore Airlines’ upcoming Boeing 787-10 and Airbus A350-900ULR-Ultra Long Haul fleets. PAC will also equip Saudi Arabian Airlines’ on-order fleet of A320 aircraft with the eXO hybrid IFE system. Also announced, Panasonic’s NFC reader is now the first in the industry to be approved for in-seat production at multiple OEMs.
