Official Airline Ratings: APEX Announces Potential PaxEx Industry Game Changer
APEX CEO Joe Leader announced a new, objective airline ratings system today. By being integrated into existing apps and prompting passengers to rate their flight experience upon landing, Official Airline Ratings has the potential to significantly increase airline passenger survey response rates. Scheduled to launch this summer at APEX TECH, it will be used to identify and award highly-rated airlines at APEX EXPO in Singapore this October. Read more.

BAE Systems’ IntelliCabin Solution Receives Supplemental Type Certificate on Vistara
A year after announcing Indian-based airline Vistara as the launch customer of its Intellicabin streaming in-flight entertainment solution, BAE Systems has announced today that it’s received its Supplemental Type Certificate from EASA and the GDCA in India. The company also commented on its APEX EXPO announcement about securing an agreement from a major Hollywood studio to stream early window content. Read more.

Recaro Secures Seat Orders from Alaska and Singapore Airlines
Alaska Airlines ordered seven shipsets of economy- and business-class seats from Recaro Aircraft Seating for its new Boeing 737 MAX 8 and 737 MAX 9 aircraft. Singapore Airlines expanded its collaboration with Recaro, with a major order of the CL3710 economy seat.

Airbus Announces TAP Portugal as Launch Customer for Airspace-Branded A330neo
Airbus announced TAP Portugal will be the launch operator of the Airbus A330neo. Entry into service is expected by the end of 2017. The re-engined, twin-aisle aircraft will also be the first to fly with the new Airspace by Airbus design concept. “By the end of 2018 we expect to have five of these babies flying around to both Brazil and new markets in North America,” says Trey Urbahn, COO, TAP Group.

SITAONAIR Partners with Royal Brunei Airlines on Fleet Wide Electronic Flight Bag Solution
Royal Brunei Airlines is going paperless with SITAONAIR’s electronic flight bag (EFB) solution. Operational information for pilots will be digitized on board the airline’s Airbus A320-200 fleet and will serve as backup on its Boeing 787-8 fleet. “Moving to EFBs offers greater flexibility for our operation,” said Capt. Chua Hong Tad, flight training manager of the A320 fleet.
