For eight euros, passengers flying with Antalya-based SunExpress can get the thrill of being in their own private 360-degree cinema through virtual reality (VR).

Inflight VR announced today it will be supplying the leisure carrier with VR headsets, which will have blockbusters, destination, meditation and relaxation content stored inside.

“With the introduction of VR entertainment, we write the next chapter of our innovation story,” said Peter Glade, chief commercial officer of SunExpress, which is a joint venture between Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa.

Inflight VR, which recently worked with Small Planet Airlines, Star Alliance and Iberia on either trials or contracts, says key to bringing the technology on board is offering flexible integration options while also considering the safety measures.

“We believe in the tremendous potential of VR to change the way passengers experience media, explore places and spaces, as well as in the added value and opportunities it creates for airlines to interact with customers in new ways and generate additional revenue streams,” said Raphael Baumann, chief commercial officer of Inflight VR.
