China Airlines has partnered with Michelin-recommended Taiwanese restaurant WENWEN to introduce new Taiwanese-inspired dishes across all three cabin classes. Beginning in October 2026, passengers traveling from Los Angeles and Ontario, California, to Taiwan can enjoy dishes developed with the Brooklyn-based restaurant. The menus feature traditional Taiwanese favorites and modern creations, ranging from braised pork rice in Economy Class to sweet potato mochi gnocchi in Premium Business Class.

Bringing Taiwanese Cuisine to Every Cabin

In Economy Class, passengers can enjoy Lo Ba Beng, a traditional Taiwanese street food dish featuring pork belly braised in a soy-based sauce, served over white rice with a soy-marinated egg.

China Airlines plans to introduce additional Economy Class dishes seasonally, including Peeled Pepper Chicken Thigh with Scallion and Ginger Rice, Beef Fat Chili Oil Guan-Miao Noodles, and Huadiao Egg Tofu over Fried Rice.

Premium Economy passengers can enjoy Surf and Turf Youfan with Seared Pork Belly and Prawn, featuring stir-fried rice with mushrooms and soy sauce, topped with pork belly and shrimp. The dish draws inspiration from traditional Taiwanese home cooking.

Other Premium Economy selections include Braised Beef Patty Rice with Cheese, Grilled Short Rib Guan-Miao Noodles, and Braised Pork Belly Rice with Taro Purée.

In Premium Business Class, China Airlines and WENWEN have developed two snack options combining Asian and Western cooking styles. Mapo Sweet Potato Mochi Gnocchi uses sweet potato to create a chewy, mochi-like texture and pairs it with a savory Mapo sauce.

Alternatively, passengers can enjoy Cheesy Braised Tofu Ramen, which combines Western-style cheese with Asian-style noodles and a sauce featuring soy-based braising flavors and milk.

Chef Eric Sze founded WENWEN in Brooklyn, where the Michelin-recommended restaurant combines traditional Taiwanese recipes with contemporary influences. The restaurant has attracted Taiwanese customers looking for familiar dishes, along with American and international diners interested in exploring Taiwanese cuisine.

The collaboration highlights how China Airlines has tailored WENWEN’s dishes to its different cabin offerings. While Economy Class focuses on traditional comfort foods, Premium Economy features more elaborate main courses, and Premium Business Class introduces smaller fusion dishes.

Expanding China Airlines’ Onboard Dining Partnerships

China Airlines already partners with several restaurants on flights departing Taiwan, including Da Wan Yakiniku, T+T, Little Tree Food, and Moon Moon Food. These collaborations bring dishes from popular restaurants onboard while introducing international passengers to different aspects of Taiwanese cuisine.

The airline also works with Le Ruban Pâtisserie and Aunt Stella on desserts, while TenRen Tea and U.S.-based Peet’s Coffee contribute to its beverage offerings. China Airlines has also partnered with BLAH BLAH Bar to introduce cocktails onboard.

By offering WENWEN’s dishes on flights departing California, China Airlines can introduce passengers to Taiwanese cuisine before they arrive in Taiwan. The partnership adds a U.S.-based restaurant to the airline’s existing dining collaborations while highlighting Taiwanese food culture through onboard meals.
