Bluebox Partners with Hong Kong Airlines for Wireless IFE

Hong Kong Airlines (HKA) is introducing wireless in-flight entertainment (IFE) for the first time in partnership with Bluebox Aviation Systems. The latter’s Blueview system, now available on select Airbus A330 and A320 aircraft, enables passengers to stream entertainment directly to their personal electronic devices. The move is part of a broader investment by HKA across its in-flight experience.
Creating an Increasingly Modern Onboard Experience
Access to Hong Kong Airlines’ new wireless IFE offering begins the moment passengers connect to the onboard network, as there is no app to download and no extra steps before browsing the content selection.
With the rollout of Blueview, passengers can peruse a broad content library that includes Cantonese favorites, regional films, and Hollywood blockbusters. The platform also features a digitized duty-free catalog that brings shopping, video content, and service information into one easy-to-navigate portal.

Blueview’s modular design also opens the door for future enhancements, including expanded retail features, destination guides, and loyalty program integration. With the first phase of the solution already live on select A330 and A320 aircraft, HKA can track usage patterns, add new content, or scale the solution as needed.
Future updates could include additional languages, enriched retail offerings, or more curated video and audio selections, all without major technical work.
A Key Part of HKA’s Renewed Cabin Investment
The new wireless IFE platform arrives as Hong Kong Airlines continues to refresh its onboard experience. Over the past several months, the airline has introduced updated seating, enhanced meals, and new routes that strengthen connectivity across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.
Blueview aligns with these efforts by offering a modern entertainment option that works across multiple aircraft types without major cabin modification. Bluebox Director of Sales for Asia Sek Boon Foo said, “This partnership with Hong Kong Airlines is a powerful example of how digital innovation can enhance the passenger experience without adding complexity.

“By deploying Blueview onboard their fleet, Hong Kong Airlines is delivering high-quality entertainment in a cost-effective, flexible way that supports both operational efficiency and their broader cabin refresh strategy. We are proud to play a role in their journey toward a more connected and passenger-focused future,” he continued.
Wireless IFE Adoption Continues to Grow Across APAC
For passengers, the upgrade provides a more intuitive and personalized entertainment experience. Instead of relying on fixed screens or outdated catalogs, they receive a digital platform that updates in real time, mirrors seasonal trends, and highlights new destinations as the airline expands. This adaptability helps HKA respond quickly to traveler preferences at a time when competition in the region continues to rise.
Indeed, Hong Kong Airlines now joins a wider movement across the region as airlines embrace portable wireless IFE. Earlier this month, IndiGo announced plans to deploy the Blueview platform on its new Airbus A321XLR fleet. In July 2025, Vietjet Thailand introduced its first in-flight entertainment system, also powered by Blueview. The momentum underscores how digital, device-based solutions are reshaping the onboard experience across Asia.
