IndiGo is bringing a new level of in-flight entertainment (IFE) to its passengers through a partnership with Bluebox Aviation Systems. The collaboration will see Bluebox’s Blueview platform line-fit on the airlines’ upcoming Airbus A321XLRs. This makes IndiGo the first Indian airline to adopt Bluebox’s technology through Airbus’ Open Software Platform (OSP) and marks a significant milestone for the carrier as it enhances the onboard experience for both domestic and international travelers.

A 69-Strong Aircraft Order for Bluebox

In 2023, IndiGo ordered 500 aircraft from the Airbus A320neo family, including 69 A321XLRs, the largest and longest-range variant in the series. The airline is expected to take delivery of its first A321XLR within a few weeks, with entry into commercial service expected as early as 2026. The jets will feature 195 seats, including 12 ‘IndiGo Stretch’ seats with 44-inches of pitch, and 183 economy-class seats with 31-inches of pitch.

For IndiGo, the collaboration aligns closely with its philosophy of providing affordable, reliable, and enjoyable air travel. With more than 400 aircraft and over 2,200 daily flights, IndiGo is one of the world’s fastest-growing airlines and a leader in the Indian aviation market. The A321XLR fleet, equipped with the the Blueview IFE system, will support IndiGo’s expansion into longer international routes across Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.

A Move to Digital-First Experiences

Passengers on IndiGo’s new A321XLR fleet will access the IFE directly from their personal devices. Bluebox’s Blueview platform will offer a curated library of Indian and international films, television series, audio options, and games. It also includes a real-time interactive map, digital dining menus, and a brand-inspired graphical interface that reflects IndiGo’s visual identity.

IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers said the new service builds on IndiGo’s goal of delivering more value and enjoyment throughout the journey. “We are delighted to offer engaging in-flight entertainment on our A321XLR fleet, in partnership with Bluebox, which our customers will be able to experience on their own personal electronic devices,” he added.

A Modular Platform for a Connected Future

Airbus’ Open Software Platform enables airlines to integrate modular digital applications directly into the aircraft’s core systems, providing greater flexibility to update and expand digital services over time. With Blueview integrated as a line-fit solution, IndiGo’s A321XLRs will launch with the ability to evolve continuously alongside changing passenger expectations.

“OSP allows airlines to harness powerful, integrated software environments as standard,” said Bluebox CEO Kevin Clark. “With Blueview, IndiGo will be able to offer passengers a seamless and engaging digital experience immediately, with the capability to evolve with passenger demands over the coming years.”

Blueview’s modular structure also creates opportunities for future enhancements beyond entertainment, including digital shopping, destination content, and loyalty features.

As a low-cost carrier, IndiGo is not alone in recognizing the value of wireless IFE. In July 2025, Vietjet Thailand announced the launch of its first in-flight entertainment system powered by Blueview. Earlier, in February 2024, AirJapan deployed the platform across its Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet, and Australian low-cost carrier Jetstar has also opted for Blueview across its Airbus fleet.
