Carriers Ensure Love Is in the Air With Special Valentine’s Day Promos

With Valentine’s Day one week away, airlines around the world are making sure that love is in the air.
Anyone who thinks you need to wait until Valentine‘s Day to experience something terribly romantic on an airplane has clearly never crossed time zones watching Love, Actually with a shared headphone splitter. A number of carriers are offering creative promos ahead of Valentine‘s Day – and if you expect it to be all rosé and roses, think again!
Emirates’ Sweet Surprises
Similar to last year, Emirates‘ chefs have created special Valentine’s Day desserts for most of the airline’s 41 lounges worldwide, which will be served from February 13 to 15. In Hamburg, there will be an orange and ginger panna cotta served with berries and pistachios; heart-shaped shortcake served with fresh strawberries and whipped cream in Cape Town; chocolate and raspberry petit fours in Auckland; a chocolate St Valentine’s cake in Narita and chocolate-covered strawberries sprinkled with coconut in US lounges.
On the same dates, the seven Emirates lounges in Dubai will be putting on a full Valentine’s spread, wherein frequent flyers can enjoy Moet & Chandon Rosé Impérial and a selection of Valentine’s-inspired cakes and desserts. Coffee lovers can also look for three Valentine’s Day coffee infusions by Coffee Planet – rose kissed mocha, orange crush latte or a white latte mocha.
Emirates is also bringing the Valentine’s Day experience on board. On February 14, it will serve a special selection of desserts on longer flights across its network. In first- and business-class, passengers can end their meals with a heart-shaped passionfruit cake, and in the A380 onboard lounge, they can snack on strawberries dipped in chocolate. Snack baskets in first class will feature the limited edition strawberry and cream flavored Lakrids liquorice, and in economy class, customers will be served a white chocolate passionfruit cheesecake for dessert.
But perhaps the sweetest seasonal perk of all is offering passengers the opportunity to “start their own love story” by curating their very own romance-themed playlist via the Emirates app to later enjoy onboard via the in-flight entertainment (IFE) system. In fact, the Emirates app allows passengers to create IFE playlists before their flights all year long, so, start dreaming up your wildly romantic, romcom playlist today!
United‘s “Be My Valentine” Instagram Campaign
Although this one is more of a post-Valentine‘s Day treat, United Airlines is partnering with Langham Hotels to #CelebrateTheEveryday this year by offering up a fun and very pink “Be My Valentine“ photo contest on Instagram.
Participants who embark on a splashy, celebration-themed journey together during the month of February and then share their photos to their public Instagram account with the tag @langhamhotels and the hashtags #CelebrateTheEveryday, #LovingLangham and #LanghamUA2020 will be entered to win 200,000 MileagePlus United Airlines award miles.
