This week, Immfly and China Airlines announced that they have taken their collaboration to new heights. The Barcelona-based digital onboard solutions provider announced an expanded partnership with the Taiwanese flag carrier that will see its advanced wireless in-flight entertainment (Wireless IFE) system installed on more than ten Airbus A330 aircraft. The move builds on the success of Immfly’s deployment across China Airlines’ Boeing 737-800 fleet, marking a significant step in its ongoing digital transformation.

Elevating the Passenger Experience

The new five-year agreement is a significant milestone for Immfly. After establishing a strong foothold in Europe and Latin America, its further expansion into Taiwan strengthens Immfly’s presence in the Asia-Pacific region.

The company’s platform delivers an intuitive interface that merges entertainment, retail, and content personalization. Passengers can stream movies, listen to curated playlists, or browse a digital storefront, all without needing to download an app or rely on seatback screens. A modular architecture gives airlines full control to tailor the platform to their brand and business model, whether that involves integrating advertisements, loyalty programs, or premium content.

“In an era when digitalization is essential, we offer an advanced, modular solution that empowers airlines to evolve their digital strategy at their own pace while unlocking new revenue opportunities,” said Immfly Co-Founder Pablo Linz. “From the passenger’s perspective, the experience is immediately elevated by offering easy access to [content] through their phones or tablets.”

Scaling Digital Success

In 2022, China Airlines became a pioneer in Taiwan’s aviation industry by launching Immfly’s Fantasy Sky Wireless Entertainment System on its Boeing 737 fleet. The platform quickly resonated with passengers, who it has found increasingly prefer using their own devices to access entertainment.

“Based on our operational experience with the 737-800 fleet, mobile streaming is undoubtedly the preferred choice for the new generation of travelers, with a utilization rate of up to 90 per cent so far this year,” China Airlines said. “We have therefore decided to seamlessly transplant this mature solution to the A330 fleet as well. The move will not only represent a new milestone in the digital transformation of China Airlines but also fulfill our commitment to low-carbon and sustainable cabins.”

Furthermore, real-time data insights from Immfly will enable China Airlines to understand what passengers enjoy, allowing them to tailor offers and content more effectively.

Consistency is Key to a Positive Passenger Experience

The expansion demonstrates how digital platforms can scale efficiently across aircraft types, preserving consistency while reducing complexity. For China Airlines, extending Immfly’s system to its A330 fleet means bringing the same user-friendly experience to medium- and long-haul routes, where passengers spend more time onboard and demand a greater variety of entertainment. The airline currently operates a fleet of 13 Airbus A330-300s.
