APEX Insight: From now until August 5, 2018, applications are being accepted for the third round of IAG’s Hangar 51 accelerator program, which will be taking place in London this year.

Any travel tech business or scale-ups looking for the “deep attention” of IAG’s operating brands are being invited to participate in Hangar 51’s third annual accelerator program, which is being hosted by Avios, British Airways and IAG Cargo in London this year.

The submission categories have been designed around different challenge areas specified by these brands. They include Connected Service, Smarter Operations, New Products, Future Cargo, Logistics, Loyalty and Rewards and a ‘Wildcard’ category.

After the submissions are validated, a ‘Pitch Day’ will take place on September 6. From there, up to ten start-ups will be selected to join the program. Twelve start-ups, including Volantio, have already joined the Hangar 51 portfolio from two previous programs.

APEX Media caught up with IAG’s head of Global Innovation, Dupsy Abiola, at Future Travel Experience Europe in Dublin, where she explained why she believes Hangar 51 is unlike any other corporate accelerator.
